ITINERARY

Day 01 : (Arrival) Airport - Negombo (Approx. 20 minutes Drive)

  • Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport where you will be met & welcome by Journeyator representative and transfer to Negombo
  • En-route City tour of Negombo
  • Transfer to hotel in Negombo
  • Overnight stay at the hotel

Negombo Boat at BeachNegombo has been mostly unexplored but less crowded as most tourists use the town for the first or the last night of their stay in Sri Lanka. That is where the advantage where you have the beach mostly to yourself. Nevertheless those who have identified its secrets have been visiting the town year after year. Fine beach stretches are superbly maintained by the hotels while some are always busy with fisherman and their equipment. Equipment for water sports such as diving, wind surfing are available at most hotels and private vendors.

Pinnawala Elephant OrphanagePinnawela Elephant Orphanage was established in 1975 and commenced with seven Orphans. Today some of these orphans enjoy the fortune of seeing their grandchildren born in the same location. The original objective of establishing the orphanage inclined more towards tourism, but it soon became a conservation and educational centre. With the help of local and foreign elephant experts, Pinnawela started a scientific captive-breeding programme for elephants. The free movement of the herd enhanced the chances for respective individuals of both sexes to get together and mate. The nearby river played a dominant role in this regard, and in 1984, the first baby of Pinnawela was born. The success story of Pinnawela has drawn the attention of scientists from all over the world. A considerable number of books and research articles on Pinnawela have been published in several languages. The members of the Pinnawela herd have been filmed, videoed and photographed thousands of times by professionals.

Kandy Temple EveningTemple of the Tooth Relic is the Most Sacred Place for the Buddhists in all over the World. The Sacred Tooth Relic (Dālada) of the Buddha is the most venerated object of worship for Buddhists. Its present house, the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Dālada Māligāwa) in Kandy, is considered by most to be a foremost sacred place of worship in the Buddhist World.

 

 

 

Ves DancersKandy Cultural Show is one of the most popular sightseeing events available for Travellers during their visit to Sri Lanka. Day 03: Train Journey from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya (Approx. 4  hour Drive)

Peradeniya GardenPeradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens, said to be one of the finest of its kind in Asia, it is the largest of the botanical gardens of Sri Lanka and couldn't be better located. In the Mediterranean Climate of Kandy, the gateway to the Central Highlands, the Gardens, at an elevation of 500 meters above sea-level, is tightly bounded on three sides by a loop of River Mahaweli (Great Sandy River), the largest river in Sri Lanka.

 

 

 

Hill Country Train JourneyTrain Journey Hill CountryTrain Journey will give you an amazing experience. Leave to Peradeniya Railway station, and board the train and leave for Nuwara Eliya. Enjoy the picturesque journey from your observation carriage, the train snaking its way through the mountains through the tea country. The car will follow you to Nanu Oya, the last station before Nuwara Eliya. Proceed by the Vehicle to Nuwara Eliya.

Day 04/05 : Nuwara Eliya

Tea In NuwaraeliyaNuwara Eliya is situated an altitude of over 1,800m above sea level the picturesque landscape of Nuwara Eliya is known as “Little England” because of the resemblance of its homesteads to English bungalows, and it’s cool climate (there are even log fires in some hotels). Nuwara Eliya is overlooked by Piduruthalagala, the highest mountain in Sri Lanka. In colonial days it was the retreat from the coastal heat for British residents and even today rituals like horse racing, boating on the lake, beautiful flower garden competitions and golf tournaments are held during the local holiday season months of April and August. Most of Sri Lanka’s fresh flowers, fruits and vegetables are grown in the area and there are also dairy and strawberry farms. The Hakgala Botanical Gardens near the town is a prime attraction, as is a trek across Horton Plains.

Horton Plains National ParkHorton Plains National Park is situated in the Central Province of Sri Lanka of Nuwara Eliya District. It is positioned at the eastern boundaries of the Upper Montane Forest Range (1500m-2524m above sea level) of Central Highland of Sri Lanka. The plateau of Horton Plains which is at a nominal elevation of 2100 m also bears the 2nd and the 3rd highest peaks of Sri Lanka, namely Kirigalpoththa (2389m) and Totupolakanda(2357m). The area of the Horton Plains is 3160 ha. or 31.6 sq. km. and is about 8% of the total upper montane forests and grasslands of Sri Lanka. The rainwater of Horton Plains plateau is drained through tributaries to Mahaveli river to the North (through Uma Oya), Walawe river to the South (through Belihul Oya and Kiriketi Oya) and Kelani river to the West (through Bogawantalawa Oya). Horton Plains has an average rainfall figure of around 5000mm though the surrounding areas have an average of 2540mm. Horton Plains gets more rain from North West monsoon and throughout the year even the minimum rain fall per month for the area had been 100mm. The mean annual temperature for the area is about 13C . One can expect temperatures as high as 27C during day and 5C during nights. The distance to Horton Plains from Nuwara Eliya is 32 km.

Day 06 : Nuwara Eliya – Ella (Approx. 2 hour  Drive)

  • After breakfast, proceed to Nanu Oya train station
  • Travel by train to Ella enjoying the scenic ride,  arrive at the Ella railway station

A taste of the breathtaking scenery of Ella could be had, if you just walk into the Garden of the Grand Ella Motel (Formerly Ella Rest House), where you seem to be standing at the edge of the world, and everything around you seems to disappear at your feet.Another fine view is from the Ambiente Hotel, where the wide doorway, opens out to the mountains, creating a dramatic cinematic like experience, on entry. Some of the places you could see in Ella are the Ella Gap, Ravana Ella Falls, Little Adam’s Peak and Bambaragala Peak among the other many varied pleasant walks with stunning scenery.

Day 07 : Ella

Rawana FallsRavana Ella or the Ravana falls is one of the widest falls in Sri Lanka and is one of the most popular attractions. It is connected to the Hindu epic, Ramayana, a historic tale that covers over India and Sri Lanka. The falls is said to have been named after the famous king, King Ravana. The story goes that King Ravana kidnapped Princess Sita from India and hid her in the caves behind the waterfall. It is also said the Sita bathed in a pool of water that was collected with the water that fell from the fall. The caves behind the fall are known as the Ravana Ella Caves.

 

Adisham BungalowAdisham Bungalow (also called Adisham Hall) is a monastery for Benedictine Monks, located about 4km from Haputale, in the Badulla District of Sri Lanka’s Uva Province. This manor house was built in 1931 by Sir Thomas Villiers, an English aristocrat and planter, and is now visited by thousands of tourists, both local and foreign, each year. Travelling to Haputale by train in the Observation Carriage or 1st Class Sleeper is a great way to enjoy the beautiful scenery en route to Adisham.

Day 08 : (Departure) Ella -  Bandaranaike International Airport (Approx. 6 hour Drive)

  • After breakfast, Transfer to Airport for the Departure Flight

  • Transportation by Air-Conditioned Car or Van throughout the tour with an English speaking Driver cum guide during the whole tour (Depend on the number of PAX)
  • All entrance fees and activities as per above program
  • Mineral Water 02 bottles (500 ml) per person per day
  • Includes All the Government Local Taxes (current prevailing)

EXCLUSIONS

  • Expenses of personal nature (Telephone calls, Laundry etc.)
  • Any items specifically not mentioned in the itinerary
  • Video and Camera permits
  • Beverages throughout the tour
  • All extra mileages, extra entrance fees out of the program
